Grey.

why_rain_clouds_are_grey_in_color

These days are dark
The air is heavy with pain
Little light can seep through the thick, ubiquitous haze
Trapped in a life colored a deep shade of grey.

Flowers wilt in sadness
Animals run back into their caves
Puddles accumulate with each passing rain
Time stands still under the deep shade of grey.

People trudge along sidewalks
With faces stolid and plain
No sounds of laughter, crying, or even “How are you today?”
Their minds are vegetables
Drought ridden and slain
Nothing fruitful comes under the deep shade of grey.

Stuck in ourselves
Unable to breathe
Gasping for air with only charcoal to ease
The sky is the limit
Literally it seems
Because no hope arises under a deep shade of grey.

These days are dark
The air is heavy with pain
No one to call in time of need
No desire to care for other human beings
Isolated in a life colored a deep shade of grey.
